About the Authors

Patrick Acosta

Patrick Acosta had been a writer and Illustrator for many years. He began drawing as a youth telling stories though his drawing and created wonderful tales to go along with them. He loved Disney which has a strong influence over his work and even work at Disneyland in Anaheim CA. Patrick was a strong advocate for the environment. He volunteered for the Audubon Society in Portland Oregon as well as Tryon State Park educating youth about the environment and conservation. Patrick believed that children are the key to saving our world and the souls that inhabited it, mainly the ones that can’t defend or advocate for themselves. The ones that can’t speak for themselves. The ones that God put in our charge. The creatures of the land, air and water. Patrick was a very spiritual man and believed that you did not have to go to church to experience God. Nature was Pat’s church. The tress are the columns for God’s cathedral with the sky a celling without end. Although he was no longer a practicing Catholic, like his spirit that continues beyond the body, so too his faith grew in God beyond religion. Patrick believed the natural world has great beauty and we must care for all of God’s creation, plants and animals alike. We must teach our children to love our world, as well as to nurture and protect it.

On February 3rd 2014 Patrick made his transition due to cancer, but not before his saw his life’s dream come true and his first book published. He devoted the last three years of his time here working on Gabriel of Noah’s Ark. Patrick stated that the words just come to him, flowing from someone greater than himself. He not only created “Gabriel of Noah’s Ark”, but he also created other manuscripts and illustrations for other books such as “Mutiny on Noah’s Ark” and “Return of Noah’s Ark” as well as other short stories and poems. Patrick believe the laughter heals all, mind, body and spirit. We are all here for a purpose. To come together in love and laughter.  To discover our true spiritual nature. To respect and nurture this planet and all God’s creatures that we share it with. To grow in mind, body and spirit. To understand we are all one people, one planet. We are here to love, to laugh and to learn. Patrick was never a follower but a dreamer and a leader. He did not believe in following blindly what people tell you no mater their authority or social status. Patrick believed that you must find out the answers of life, past, present and future, for yourself and make your own conclusions. Whether it be our origins, religion/spirituality or experiencing the presence of God we must follow your personal path to Truth. We are all here on a personal journey of self discovery and to experience a deeper connection with each other, our planet and God.

“Gabriel of Noah’s Ark” was 20 years in the making. The first version was titled “Gabriel’s Ark,” a children’s picture book. As with all things it is said, “Everything in its time.” And as Patrick traveled on his journey of spiritual awareness, so did Gabriel and “Gabriel of Noah’s Ark” evolving into a children’s novel. Patrick researched the Christian, Jewish, and Muslim holy books, to create a combined version of the story we all know and love.
